Forehead/brow lift surgery is a surgery to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, frown lines and lowering of the brow by smoothing out the surface of the skin and lifting the position of the brow and upper eyelids.

Forehead/brow lift surgery is generally undertaken by those in their 40s or older who aware of frown lines or wrinkles, and drooping upper eyelids - which can give the appearance of an older, tired face.
The Surgery:
The most common techniques used in forehead/brow lift surgery are open and endoscopic. Both procedures involve the individual being placed under a general or local anesthetic and can take up to two hours.
- Open forehead/brow lift surgery - In this type of forehead/brow lift surgery, an incision will be made along the hairline or within a crease on the forehead.
- Endoscopic forehead/brow lift surgery - An endoscope,a metal tube with a camera attached , is inserted trough small incisions- behind the hairline so that the surgeon can view the operation from a TV screen to remove any tissue and excess skin.
In both open and endoscopic forehead/brow lift surgery, fatty tissue and some forehead muscles are removed, the remaining muscles are tightened and excess skin is cut away. Finally the brows are lifted and fixed into place, and the remaining skin pulled down to create a smooth surface. The incision is closed using sutures or staples.
Risks of forehead/brow lift surgery:
Scarring will be seen after the surgery but it would be fade and blend in with your skin. However, there is the risk of permanent visible scarring. Other risks including nerve damage, loss of skin sensation and movement, asymmetrical eyebrows and/or eyelids, blood clotting, infection and loose skin.
Recovery from forehead/brow lift surgery:
You may need to stay in hospital overnight and take 10 days off work after forehead/brow lift surgery. Bruising and swelling would be expected but it will subside. Stitches or staples will be removed between 5-10 days after the operation. You should avoid any rigorous exercise for several weeks.
